متن کاملTime-dependent sensitivity of a rapid antigen test in patients with 2009 H1N1 influenza.
Rapid antigen tests (RAT) are used to screen patients with suspected influenza virus infection and provide results in a timely manner. RAT can also help to reduce unnecessary diagnostic testing, to facilitate antiviral treatment, and to decrease inappropriate use of antibiotics (4). However, the clinical sensitivity of RAT was poor for 2009 H1N1 influenza virus, showing an accuracy from 11.1% t...
متن کاملRapid Influenza Antigen Test for Diagnosis of Pandemic (H1N1) 2009
We compared the QuickVue Influenza test with PCR for diagnosing pandemic (H1N1) 2009 in 404 persons with influenza-like illness. Overall sensitivity, specificity, and positive and negative predictive values were 66%, 84%, 84%, and 64%, respectively. Rapid test results should be interpreted cautiously when pandemic (H1N1) 2009 virus is suspected.
متن کاملPoor Clinical Sensitivity of Rapid Antigen Test for Influenza A Pandemic (H1N1) 2009 Virus
Influenza A pandemic (H1N1) 2009 virus RNA was detected by reverse transcription-PCR in 144 clinical samples from Bonn, Germany. A common rapid antigen-based test detected the virus in only 11.1% of these samples. The paramount feature of rapid test-positive samples was high virus concentration. Antigen-based rapid tests appear unsuitable for virologic diagnostics in the current pandemic.
متن کاملThe Clinical Usefulness of the SD Bioline Influenza Antigen Test® for Detecting the 2009 Influenza A (H1N1) Virus
Though the 2009 worldwide influenza A (H1N1) pandemic has been declared to have ended, the influenza virus is expected to continue to circulate from some years as a seasonal influenza. A rapid antigen test (RAT) can aid in rapid diagnosis and allow for early antiviral treatment. We evaluated the clinical usefulness of RAT using SD Bioline Influenza Antigen Test® kit to detect the influenza viru...
